HealthSouth RIOSA Announces Michael Thomas as CEO
HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of San Antonio (RIOSA) welcomes Michael Thomas as chief executive officer. Thomas assumed the role on March 28.
As CEO, Thomas oversees the inpatient rehabilitation hospital’s day-to-day operations as well as patient quality and care. He comes to HealthSouth RIOSA after serving as associate administrator for two years at HealthSouth’s inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Spring Hill, Florida. Prior to that, Thomas served as a director of operations/administrator for a home healthcare and hospice provider and as a director of physical medicine and rehabilitation for a rehabilitation hospital.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, a doctorate in orthopedics from the University of St. Augustine for Health Science and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Aspen.
“Having someone with strong clinical and healthcare leadership experience overseeing our hospital is a great asset to our staff, and patients and their families,” said Frank Brown, president of HealthSouth’s southwest region. “Michael has worked directly with patients as an occupational therapist and has more than 10 years of healthcare leadership which allows him to bring a unique perspective to achieving optimum patient outcomes and positive experiences.”
HealthSouth RIOSA is an inpatient physical rehabilitation hospital that serves patients recovering from conditions such as stroke and other neurological disorders, cardiac and pulmonary conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, complex orthopedic conditions, and amputations.
